22 THOUSAND cattle, and 120 THOUSAND sheep/goats for a sacrifice????? How long this must have taken. Can you IMAGINE that number of animals? I am seriously doubting those numbers as recorded in chapter 7 of this book. Seriously, how could this have taken place, and how long would it have taken and, and and, just THINK of the logistics of this. That's a WHOLE bunch of beef and lamb chops!!!!

Sorry, just got carried away there, but things like this make people really wonder how true everything in the Bible really is.

I see in chapter 6 the beginning of Gentiles being allowed to come to God. I always thought it was Peter and Paul who first introduced this concept. They certainly took (or at least man as given them) credit for it. But here, I see Solomon praying to God for 'foreigners', or in other words, non-Israelites, or, to put it yet another way, Gentiles. Solomon is asking God to allow these people to COME TO THE TEMPLE and pray to God, and for God to listen to them and answer their prayers!!! Solomon is advocating that the Temple he had built is for ALL people, not just God's 'chosen ones'. Interesting concept which I had never noticed before until the Peter/Paul discussions of 'going to the Gentiles'.

Good reading today....one more day in this month after today....that means, yes, that means, I will have actually made the first three months of the year without any alcohol.

    God is great!
