Can you guess how many 'parting of the waters' were presented in the Bible? Some can only think of when Moses and the Israelites who were in captivity in Egypt crossed over the 'Sea of Reeds', or the 'Red Sea' (depending upon who you ask)--as first told in Exodus 14. Some will recall when the Jordan river was parted by Joshua as he led the Israelites into 'the promised land' as soon as the Ark-toting priests' feet touched the edge of the river (and twelve stones were taken from the middle of the river and piled on one side as a remembrance)--See Joshua, chapters 3 & 4. But, almost no one will tell you the story about when the Jordan river was once again parted so that Elijah and Elisha could cross it. This story is found in today's reading in 2nd Kings, chapter 2 verse 8. BUT, there is more! Read verse 14. It happens AGAIN! This time, Elisha is alone and wants to go back across the river, so he takes Elijah's cloak (the same one Elijah had used earlier to split the river) and divides the Jordan once more. FOUR TIMES God demonstrated His power by parting waters....The Red Sea (or Sea of Reeds) was one, and the Jordan was the other...but the Jordan was done 3 times!

So, if you want to seem informed of Biblical stories, ask a Christian today if he/she knows how many times waters were parted so people could go from one side to the other, in what books are they found, and who were the main characters. Might be fun.

    Happy St. Pats, ya'll.

You gave nice ideas here. I done a research on the issue and learn most peoples will agree with your blog. Certainly, these practices are unfair; but they say that most of their rules are only to apply to people who overdraw.
