31 Days to go. Alcohol free the first 59. And speaking of 59...the numbers of days we have been blogging so far...., I have been there 58 times, Dustin 31 times and Tony 23 times. When we first started, Dustin said he'd get some guys from his church in Cali to participate. Big Willie only came by a coupla times...and that's it. As your kinda spiritual leader, at least in the case of this project---reading the entire Bible during 2010, I must say I need to encourage you both (Dustin and Tony) to do better from now on. These are great stories you are missing by not getting up early in the morning and reading your Bible. Take today's reading for example, Saul is jealous of David and attempts to kill him, but with the help of Saul's son Jonathan, he fails. Why is he jealous? Simply because the people thought David was a better warrior than Saul. How silly. Jealousy can get yourself into a lot of trouble. Are you jealous of someone else? Do you envy what other people HAVE or are like? It is silly to be that way. God has given each of us gifts, both spiritual and otherwise, which we should be content with...but we're not. The story goes on where Saul tries to kill David...even tries to get his own son and his men to do it for him. Jonathan, of course, refuses, as he truly likes David. When Jonathan persuades his father Saul to back off, Saul agrees, but then, 'an evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul' so that Saul once again became filled with jealousy. Well, first, what is this evil spirit FROM the Lord? I didn't think God did evil, nor owned evil spirits...I thought satan did that. Any words of wisdom here? Well, anyway, after this evil spirit entered Saul, he even tried to kill his own son because of his jealousy over David. See how one sin (jealousy) can lead to something even worse (attempted murder)? We must all be careful about our little sins....we need to reign them in so they don't become bigger ones. Don't you agree?
Let us start by being more dedicated to His Word each MORNING.....start your day off with 30 minutes of reading and writing, instead of whatever else it is you do.
