The arrival of David. Like Dustin, I was struck by one verse today (but I'll write about others as well). Chapter 16, verse 7b "...the Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." OR---you can fool all the people some of the time, and you can fool some of the people all of the time, but......YA CAN'T FOOL GOD." So, why even try? It is not what you DO, or don't do, that impresses God, it is what you ARE. Can one change his outward appearance? Oh, absolutely...just look at Hollywood..., but can you change your SELF, your Hear?
What do you think? Do you think a heart can be changed? Site me an example. Or, is it all a farce, and people only change outwardly....still harboring tons of sin within themselves?
Are YOU do this? Have you absolutely changed, or is it just a temporary on and off thing? Do you SOMETIMES read God's Word? So you SOMETIMES share your story with others? Do you SOMETIMES give money to the poor? Do you SOMETIMES pray to God? Do you SOMETIMES refrain from sin? If the answer is yes to any of these, probably you haven't really changed, but only appear to others that you might have. A good indication is how dedicated you are to reading God's Word. If you're not at least reading it everyday, to say nothing about studying it, how can you completely, I say again, completely, change your heart? Satan loves it when you don't read God's Word, because THAT day, he (satan) has his opportunity to go after your heart himself. So, let's see a change of heart....let's see 100% daily reading of the Bible for a start. By doing this, you CAN begin to change your heart. But by being intermittent for God, a heart change is less likely.
Okay, now, the awesome story of David and Goliath. We have all heard this story since we were kids. It is a popular one to teach people about the small triumphing over the large. Or those oppressed over the oppressor. Or the righteous over the unrighteous.
The Bible is full of stories like this. Stories where men with little, fight and triumph over those with a lot. Recall the parable by Jesus about the mustard seed? What does it say? In Matthew and Mark 13, and Luke 13, Jesus tells us that although it is the smallest seed of all, when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree. In Matthew 17, He says that if you have faith the size of a tiny mustard seed you can tell a mountain to move, and it will. In Luke 17, He says a little faith will allow you to tell a mulberry tree to be uprooted and plant itself in the ocean, and it will happen. (Hmmm...strange..I always thought it said you could move a mountain into a sea...but, after re-reading these verses, that is NOT what it says(cool) learned something new today. Anyway, small good triumphing over large evil. Can you (small good) beat out satan (large evil)? If so, I highly recommend your day start with Bible study. God is Great! Reply to this
