Sorry...just got into that good ole limerick feeling this morning. On to the rest of story, as Paul Harvey would say... The birth of Samuel....all because Hannah prayed to God. If she had never prayed, old Sam woulda never been born. Nor would he have been a study under Eli, nor a prophet who told Eli what God was going to do to him (as we'll find out tomorrow). Isn't it amazying how people who have much, 'pick on' those who don't? Peninnah constantly harassed Hannah (who's name is the same backwards and forwards, by the way). Peninnah had children, while Hannah had none. The society we live in is like Peninnah. The rich get richer, and not caring for the poorer who get poorer and pooret. That is a form of getting picked on, when the poor are neglected. Jesus wants us to NOT pick on the poor, but rather devote our lives to helping them. Peninnah didn't help Hannah.....are YOU helping the poor? We will see a lot of great things about Samuel in the upcoming chapters....this is a man we could all try to emulate in some ways. Anyway, that's it for today, almost...still in that limerick mood, so here's one more:
A gourmet dining at Crewe Found a rather large mouse in his stew. Said the waiter, "Don't shout And wave it about, Or the rest will be wanting one, too."
