Well, 3 judges down, a bunch more to go. We start off with Othniel, nephew of Caleb. Everyone did good (in the eyes of the Lord). Then, all of a sudden, when Othniel was no more, they messed up again. So God gave them a second judge, Ehud, and, as the Bible says, a left-handed man. Why this is important to mention is beyond me, but knowing that Tony is left-handed, I guess it has SOME importance. He DID use his left hand to wield the sword that killed Eglon, king of Moab. I liked that part that says 'they waited until the point of embarrassment', thinking the now dead king was in the bathroom and didn't want to interrupt WHATEVER he might be doing in there!!! After our left-handed judge died, Shamgar was appointed as judge and he is creditted for striking down 600 Philistines with an oxgoad. You know what an oxgoad is? Its a ten-foot long 'stick' used to drive oxen.....something like a spear, but the end is not sharpened metal.
Anyway, here we have Israel embarking on a yo-yo journey as one judge follows another, each with his own way of doing things, and many times, NOT the ways of the Lord.
Are we like that? Do we sometimes do things OUR way, instead of what the Lord wants us to do? Oh yes, I am sure. We let ourselves follow 'judges', if you may, which might not be the best thing to do...maybe we ought to follow what GOD tells us, rather than what some man tells us.....start in Matthew 4, 5, 6 and 7, and you will be on a good journey. Hope all have a great day. Still alcohol-free!

This Tony is right handed, and where the heck do you find out what a oxgoad is? Most of us would just skim over the fact that they even said oxgoad, but you take the time to look it up! You are inspiring Mac. I know that no one has been with you these past few days and that you are the only consistent man of God,and I commend you for that. Keep up the GREAT work and know that you are an inspiration for me in so many ways. I love you man. Reply to this

OK....OK....OK.... Abraham is gone, Noah is gone, Moses is gone, Joshua is gone, Now what? Judges? So God is now appointing the just good enough (at least thats how i read it). He is giving the power to people that seem to want to follow his word. I felt as though God was just throwing people in to leadership.
So about the left hand. When i was in the middle east, the Navy leadership made a big stink about the use of the left hand. They said that if you were left handed rest using it as it is considered the dirty hand. The left hand was the one used to complete the paper work after the big stink. So i think that the writer made that known because it was disrespectful to use that hand and to top it of to be killed by the left hand.
To the point of embaresment. My thought is, Have you every stood out side of the womens restroom holding your wifes purse? Or been anywhere that there were a lot of other men around and you were holding your wifes purse while she was not in sight? I bet thats how they (the guards or who ever they might have been) were starting to feel after standing outside the restroom waiting for the king to come out.
I had no idea what a "Goad" was until today. Now i know what a "Goad" and a "Ox Goad" is. Thanks for pointing that out. Reply to this

I don't want to see anyone leaving single tonight. I want everyone to leave impregnated.
