'Tis all very interesting. Interesting to read about murder, and accidental killing. And then, what to do with the person (for his own protection). Interesting that one who does commit an accidental killing is 'confined' in a city of refuge until a priest dies. Interesting.

Also interesting about God's commands for families to stay together as a family, not even being able to marry outside of a family. Today, for whatever unknown reason, genetics has taught us that children born of close relatives can have severe physical issues. Don't know if that was something God interjected later on, or if it existed even back then.

    Yes, very interesting.

What interests YOU? Does daily Bible readings do that? If so, what do you do about those interests? Do you look up in the library, other parts of the Bible, or on the internet for answers to some of the questions you yourself raise because of these interests? You should.

For example, we now know why 'cities of refuge' were created....to protect a possibly innocent person from the ire of revenge of a relative of someone who was possibly accidentally killed. Today, we call that, 'court'. Sorta. The courts are supposed to protect people, whether it be by restraining orders or even protection 'plans' where a person waiting trial (or a witness of a severe crime) is given a new identity and place to live, at least until the trial takes place. Sorta like a city of refuge. Probably a good idea, because God has allowed anger and revengeful acts in peoples' hearts. And to protect the possible innocents, different systems have been set up over the years, starting with cities of refuge as we read about today.

Anyway, that is my take on today's reading. Interesting topics. Yes, interesting.

i had not thought about the witness protection issue. It does make the reading come off the pages in a different way. Thanks.
