Oh oh...the first book of 'the Law'. As you go through most of this book, and if you read it, you will see a LOT of things described that people are supposed to be doing. Today's reading basically talks about different types of offerings God wants/commands the people to make. It is very difficult for me to understand why the exactness and sometimes elaborateness in these Words of God. I wonder what the real purpose in, for example, that one must "throw 'the crop' (sic) to the east side of the altar, where the ashes are.". Why not to one of the other three cardinal directions? Anyway, these laws seem more like precise directions than rules for a society to get better. I am glad God doesn't need these same types of action of me today, but rather has been 'satisfied' by the death of Jesus for our sins. However, there ARE plenty of 'laws' which God set down through His son, that I/we SHOULD be obeying, but oft times we do not. Our 'offerings' to God are sometimes meager, if even non-existent. It is encouraging to read the Bible in order at least understand His laws, even if I don't follow them all the time. In my heart I know I should, and I want to, but sometimes I fall short of those goals. Thank God for His Son, who allows these iniquities in my life to go unpunished.
I turned 60 today....God has been good to me all my life. I hope I have 30 or 40 more years in me to do a better job for God, but ya never know. Ya'll take care this weekend and show your love to God somehow by 'offering' Him something. Reply to this

Sounds like the isrealites had one heck of a BBQ. God was always upset with them. By the way, with as upset as God was and how much sinning they did, How did they have enough animals to offer all of those burnt offerings? Reply to this
