The end of another journey. Here we find all types of people doing all types of things for 'the church', that is, the gathering of people for God. Their journey started many years ago, long before they were slaves of Egypt. We don't hear too much of them in that era, but a lot immediately following their escape through the Red Sea. They had a fantastic journey, one filled with many, many trials and error. And, that is what I want to blog about today. A journey. Our journey. Our journey from the time we are born until the time we die. It is not a long journey, yet some are longer than others. It is not always an easy journey, but, again, some are easier than others. We 'wander' through love many times without really understanding what our journey is supposed to be all about. Is it maturing, getting married, raising a family, working like heck to make 'a living', and then dying and returning to the dust from which we came? There HAS to be something more to our journey than that. Like making friends; and doing things for those friends. Like helping those who are less fortunate than you yourself are. No matter how poorly you think you are doing on your journey, there are millions of people in the world who are no where near as fortunate as you. I think our journey was designed by, desired by, and encouraged by, the One and Only, God. For what purpose? For us to to worship Him. I think He wants us to travel in HIS footsteps; do the things HE does. I think our journey should be one of utter love for Him and others, and not really caring for ourselves. I believe we have it all backwards. We do things for US, a heck of a lot more than we do things for God and others. What kind of a journey is that? A selfish one, if I may say so. We balk at giving 10% of our income to a church organization (for many excuses), yet we spend the remainder basically on ourselves. Why? What do we gain by it? Is our journey EASIER if we are rich in money? I don't think so. I think we are only fooling ourselves and hurting God by spending our few precious years on this earth caring more for ourselves than for others. I think our journeys need to be altered; changed so that we look to serve, rather than to be served. We all have skills (much like called out in these chapters) which we can use to benefit others, and in turn, really benefits God. Why don't each of us look at ways we can help someone else this week, and make HIS or HER journey easier, instead of trying to glide through life on a golden rail ourselves? Up for the challenge? If so, like also stated in these chapters, "if you are willing", meet the challenge to make someone else's journey easier this week, and blog about it in the coming days. I'm interested in ideas. Life is but a selfish journey. We are all about us, I agree. Did you have any particular thoughts ?
