Whew.....'long' reading again. I guess it seems long because it is not as exciting as the first time I read it. My zeal for learning God's Word has waned over time. That is really too bad, as there is SO much in this book we have at our disposal. We start out today learning about 'arrogant' Joseph who brags about his dreams and 'flaunting' the fancy goat his father gave him. Now, I don't know if he actually flaunted it, or not, or even how he 'bragged' to his brothers about his dreams, but in any case, to his brothers, it seemed like flaunting and bragging. To his dismay, Joseph was sold to marauders and then eventually to the Egyptians. In their possession, he was imprisoned by a lying women, and again we see him telling someone about dreams...this time, THEIR dreams (cupbearer and baker), instead of his own. Then, a coupla years later he tells Pharoah about Pharoah's dreams, and he himself starts to rise in power as he oversees the acquisition and distribution of grain for all of Egypt, and also supplies some to other parts of the world. This is all a leadin for how he is reunited with his brothers and father--something we will read about soon.

So, what can be learned from all this? Plenty. God has His plans. We are all included, somehow in His plans. What do you think God has planned for you for the rest of your lives? Will you be famous? Will you be wealthy? Will you be wise? How is God using you (nor or in the future)? Are you living a life apart from sin, like Joseph seemed to be able to do? Or are you indulging in misguided ventures with surely disastrous results? Will you be reunited with some of your 'enemies' of your past? Will God guide you on how to act if that is the case? SO many questions, all rhetorical at this point, but just something to think about. If God can use the youngest son of a man with 11 other older sons and rise him to great power in a foreign nation, He surely can use you any way He wants to. Maybe He'll send YOU to a far away land, or maybe just down the street to your neighbors. Whatever God has in store for you, embrace it with all your heart. Get excited (once again) about learning His Word and about being a man FOR God, not just one OF God.
Hope all are enjoying the day, and that all dedicate more time to blogging your thoughts on our daily readings.

PRAYER? Looks like what YOU need is STUDY!
      64%. Not TOO bad. What's passing, 80?
I think 64 would equate to an F, or a D-1, depending upon the grading system of a school.
So, how are you preparing for this test? Do you have anyone to sit with you and quiz you on what you should know? Aren't there any brothers you know well enough to sit and help you study? The church here USED to be that way, but a lot has changed in the past 5 years. Hopefully you don't need prayer, but simply hard work and a few friends locally to help you learn what you must know.

It is a lot like this blog. It is (was) designed to be a learning tool, where by hard study and thinking and research, we could each grow and possibly pass God's big test. Not that knowledge is THE answer, but it IS extremely helpful in making sure we can pass His everyday tests. When we first started, we had lots of discussion on what we read, lots of learning, lots of teaching, AND lots of research (in some cases). We'd spend time looking up words, phrases, Scriptures and ideas throughout the Bible instead of simply reading and putting down our thoughts. Wish we'd get back to that type of study...it helped me a lot to grow, and I saw growth in Tony and Rick when we were doing that. But now, it seems there is very little of that going on...including in my own household. I used to write miniature sermons and lessons all the time, but don't do that anymore. I got lazy. I stopped hard study and now devote any Bible time to simply reading and writing a little bit about what I read, with no real deep thought behind it.

How about you? Did you ever read/listen to my teachings on how to study the Bible? At the time, they were very informative and helpful, if not to the listeners, at least to me, because I used those practices in my own study of the Word.

You need something like that, not only in learning the Bible, but perhaps in learning to get your Class A license. Too bad I wasn't in California, "I'd" help you study. Okay, I'll pray for you....but that is not what you need. You're no dummy...you CAN do this, but it may just take a little more hard work and maybe some coaching by some grey-haireds in cali.
