Okay, just a tad longer than most assignments so far. And, of course, a lot of material to absorb. Again we see deception being done, with seemingly no disapprovement from God. I guess the author was telling it like it was. God allows a tremendous lot of sinning to go on, even though He hates it. Rachel, of course, though, died giving birth to Benjamin (or Ben-Oni). Maybe that was God's punishment for her stealing household goods from her father Laban. Esau....remember him? The brother Jacob tricked into getting his birthright and blessing from Isaac? Must have been a remarkable man....he forgave his brother Jacob (now named Israel)...he went to him with open arms. That is one lesson all mankind should learn and adhere to...forgiveness. Who do you have something against...maybe someone who has wronged you? Have you gone to him/her with open arms to forgive them for what they did A tough thing to do. In retrospect, Esau was much more of a man than his brother Jacob. Still amazed that God chose Jacob over Esau. One of those great mysteries of life, I guess. I have to admit, in the reading today, I skimmed the last part of the last chapter. Lists of names are boring to read. When we get into longer lists, I recommend that if you don't read it all, then to skim to the parts that seem to pause and describe one or more of the names and see what is being said about him or her. Like one of the sons of Zibeon, Anah. It was said in verse 24 (ch 36) that he discovered hot springs in the desert while grazing donkeys. Kool....got credit in God's Word for doing something good. How about you? Is there anything YOU do that could be written down as extraordinary and might be creditted by God as 'something good'? You probably haven't discovered the cure for cancer, or diabetes or other diseases, but maybe you have gone out of your way to help someone. If so, tell us about it.
