kind of scary, alot a sleeping of sleeping around to feel wanted or loved.
Sad but understood how we can lower our convictions when we want something bad....granted its was ok in those days to allow my 'maidservent' to bore you a child... but i think its week minded. Again thats how it was done back then.
I loved the part when God said he would be with him until the end of his journey. The end of my journey is when i see him in heaven..... awesome you can be with me that long if you want to!

As I play catch up, because I am a slacker and I have no will power where a daily devotional is concerned, or anything else for that matter anymore. What I find interesting in chapter 21 is that Sarah was how old yet she was still considered beautiful? Past the age of childbearing, up in the 75+ I thought. To me it is amazing that back in the day when God would appear to them that they would laugh at something He (God) would say.
In chapter 23 you have to wonder what was going through Isaac's mind as his father was binding him up to be the offering. Was there any type of struggle? Was there any emotions going on. Or did they both just do as they were told? Things that make you go uhm.
    CH 23
Sarah was 127 when she died? What happened to chapter 6 verse 3" Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with [a] man forever, for he is mortal [b] ; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
We are 17 chapters and generations later yet people are still living past 120. Any thoughts, anyone?

I'm glad I copied and pasted this as for some reason the tab got closed. Anyway, chapter 26. Rebekah is how old? She had her sons when Isaac was 60, the boys were grown yet Isaac still feared for his life because of his wife's beauty the age old lie comes out yet again!.

a couple of chapters back jacob tricked easu into giving up his birthright for some food . BOOMERANG....Laban is asked to give up rachel by jacob. After seven years of work Laban gives Jacob, Leah as his wife. So what comes around goes around. Your bad decision today will come back. Have you ever had a bad decision come back to haunt you? I have its in my driveway. Comes back every month in the form of a bill i struggle to pay.
Hope all of you go to church today and we all have a god inspired day. Love you all.

So, if mating sheep and goats have offspring that look like the branches (in this case, striped ones) put near them as they mated, does that work the same with humans? I don't know where I'm going with that one, it was just something that came to mind, that's all. Deceipt again. God seems to allow HIS people to deceive others. In this case, I guess Laban deserved it for deceiving Jacob in the first place. But does an eye for an eye seem right? What ever happened to 'turn the other cheek', or to 'love your enemy'? I think that while GOD Himself may have not changed, His views on how to handle humans did. When Jesus came, I think God realized that His earlier efforts to convince mankind to become righteous was not working. Of course, even after His Son dying for all men and women everywhere, we still haven't changed. The world is FULL of deceiptful sinners. Wonder what God has up His sleeve next.

I don't understand how Jacob can lie to his dying father and get a blessing. Isaac out right asked him if he was Esau and he (Jacob ) said yes I am. You would think that God would intervene at some point. Why can't Esau get a decent blessing? Why almost a curse?
Not only does Jacob get Esau's blessing but then Isaac turns around and blesses Jacob. You would think once the trickery was discovered that Isaac would be upset with Jacob. So continues the first soap operas of today.
Jacob does the first tithe , ch 28 we 22

How does one build a family through a maidservant? I guess that is the first for the surrogate mother. You would think that Rachel would pray for a child verses using the maid servant. Maybe they just were not aware of the problems from earlier times.

How many times have we wrestled with God? How many times is it more likely that we wrestle with ourselves about what God wants us to do verse what we want to do? I think our very first thought about what we should do is the voice of the holy spirit. We know we should but then we think of reasons we should not and we talk ourselves out of it. It may be something as simple as opening our mouth and telling someone about God. God is there, God has nudged us to speak and yet we don't. We, as mankind, still wrestle with God, and due to free will, God looses. God lets us make the wrong choice which we may think is right at the time, due to our selfishness, but in the end we are the ones that loose.
