First, Will(ie), welcome aboard. The trip you are about to take will be a tremendously informative one. It will take time and dedication to get the fullness out of what this blog is intended. It will take developing a habit, on a daily basis, of thinking about God in a way you may never have done before. It will lead you to greatness more than you've ever known. The wisdom of the other folks who frequent this blog is amazing. Their questions also will spark wisdom in you as you seek to try to help them by providing your answers/comments. God knew that man cannot do anything by himself. Adam needed Eve. THEY needed Him. YOU need us, as much as WE need YOU. On this site, use your name/alias in the NAME Block, and click on the Remember Me option below so that each time you blog you will be immediately identified to the other brothers. I hope that we will gleen some of your strengths and weaknesses this year through our interaction on this site, as I expect you will learn more of Dustin and the rest of us. Don't be afraid to open up and ask for help along the way, whether it be in the form of learning what is being taught in the Scriptures we are reading, or in the issues of your own life. We need prayers from others, as well as other support---which I think this blog will provide, as that was one of the original intentions when we started this a few years ago. Again, welcome aboard! If the waves get high and strong, hold on fast!

What a Title: Do You Trust Me? I sure as ta heck wouldn't trust Abraham after his (first) lie to the Pharoah. HE LET PHAROAH SLEEP WITH HIS WIFE BECAUSE HE FEARED FOR HIS LIFE! ????? Will never understand it (and of course he does this later in this book as well.) No, from this viewpoint, it would be hard to trust Abram. BUT, to trust in God is a different story. Abram trusted God by packing up everything he owned and headed off to a new country, one he really know nothing about. Not sure if I could do that. Probably, if I got a direct calling from God like Abram did ('the Lord' appeared before him). Now, I don't know what all these OT references to 'the Lord' really meant, as the book also tells us that no one can SEE God, yet Abram (and others) meet, and talk to, God in some form or another. Here, the author uses the term 'the Lord'. Is that GOD? Was it an angel of God? Don't really know. But, if God did somehow appear before me, and I KNEW it was God, then yes, perhaps I would definitely follow his commands. Does it take that for us to do what He says? Are we so prideful that we refuse to do what is written in the Bible simply because we can't see God 'telling' us these things? Don't steal, don't covet, don't kill, etc, etc. At times I think we are. We ignore God's commands all the time. We don't tithe (first/best 10% of everything we earn/own). We don't spread the word of God. We eat too much (gluttony). We drink too much (drunkeness). We take too much pride in what WE do (even though it is God who has given us talents to do what we do). Yes, we fail to keep His commandments all the time. Why? Because we don't trust God. We don't believe what He says is true. We ignore the 'hard commands' because we don't truly believe that God will answer us with pleasures more than we've ever experienced, both here on earth, and our ultimate goal, in Heaven.
Try today, to trust God. Don't put too much trust in men (especially ones who act like Abram did with his wife and Pharaoh), but put your trust (and life) in God Himself. Reply to this
