Saw a great movie last night...."Knowing". Extreme religious undertones. I was reminded of this movie this morning because of what God is saying here. He says that he will break havoc upon the Israelites, but also that he will wait in 'His place' until they 'earnestly seek' Him. It is as if God KNOWS what the Israelites will do....which of course, we KNOW that God knows this, as He knows everything. Although the movie didn't seem to be about man's sin causing destruction, it was a lesson in predictability and predestination. Everything happens for a reason...one of God's reason. He knows what is going to happen every day, even though it is often bad. Although I don't subscribe to the once-popular predestination theory, I do believe every thing happens for a reason, and that God DOES know what you are going to ultimately decide in every one of your decisions. The movie hints at angels protecting certain people, which of course I also believe happens in real life. The movie star, Nicolas Cage, didn't know what to believe, especially after his wife died. He was confused about God. He was confused about how life works. This movie is a very good example of God's wrath against mankind, as well as His love for those who 'earnestly seek' Him.
How are you doing in this area? Are you earnestly seeking Him on a daily basis? Is He first on your mind in the morning? Do you go to prayer to Him as soon as you wake up? Are you earnest in starting your day in God's Word, seeking His knowledge? God DOES punish people, as is evident in this chapter, who fail to obey Him, but He 'lies in wait' with abounding love for each of us when we earnestly seek Him, and He KNOWS when and if we will do so. Are you doing so? Reply to this
