The whole chapter goes on to explain why these people are foolish. It's like, DUH!!!! What is WRONG with you?
And sometimes I think that about people today. I prefer the more derogatory term, idiot, rather than fool (after all, the Bible does teach not to call anyone a fool (Mt 5:22) which is used several time throught the NT by Paul, James, Peter, JESUS, and even GOD!)
I don't know how many times I have thought of the word idiot when seeing the following: All black churches; all white churches; child baptisms; people not attending church; people not reading God's Word on a daily basis; people who commit crimes against others (stealing, rape, murder), and to a 'lessor'? degree, lying, deceipt, cheating, judging.
Yes, you foolish, idiotic people! Don't you understand? Who has tricked you into believing that 'once saved, always saved'. Who has bewitched you when you have sex with people of the same sex? Who has taught you the lies of Satan about living lives of sin and confessing every once in a while to be absolved? Why have you not understood the sacrifice made by Jesus?
I know that the words idiot and fool are pretty harsh, but ya know, sometimes it takes those descriptions to get people's attention. I usually don't call someone an idiot or fool to their face, like Paul did to the foolish Galatians being led astray by false teachings, but maybe that is what we SHOULD be doing more of.
I plead once again for your help...ALL of you. Please go (back) to Galatians 1 and 2 and blog about what you learned there....I really want your input for my class this Thursday evening (again, all are welcome to join me at 7PM).
I called Tony yesterday, who said he was having a 'bad week'. I tried to encourage him to start blogging while on his trip, but I guess I failed.

The lines, or fill in the blanks did resemble a curse word and i now make a formal apology to all of you for doing that.
So what i was getting at was GAL 2:12-16. Circumcised/ uncircumcised we as people title ourselves which is causing discrimination(sin). Re-read my post without filling in the blank if you want. Maybe it will make more sense when you put the two together. Or maybe it wont. Reply to this

Thanks for the information....most of it I already knew, but I'll reread to see what else I can glean from this. Appreciate your efforts.
And, BTW, maybe we ought to talk someday about what 'gets under our skin', such as the term 'African American'....what you say, SOUNDS a bit prejudicial, and although I don't really fully understand why people have to refer to themselves from their HERITAGE rather than from their places of birth, it doesn't BOTHER me, and shouldn't you. First, I still think it should be noted how this chapter starts. Look at all of Paul's other letters - many times they start off by saying "We thank God for all of you" (Rom 1, 1 Cor 1, Phillipians 1, Col 1, 1 and 2 Thess - and 2 Cor and Eph 1 both say "Praise God" for all these great things. This one says "I am astonished" - no buttering up - no reminiscing about when he and Barnabas planted the churches. Just a straight rebuke out of the box. I talked a bit about that yesterday.
A great verse about pleasing men - I am a people pleaser by nature - being a servant of God, I don't need to worry about pleasing people.
Then Paul talks about the gospel not being from man - and goes to great length to back this up, even spilling into chapter 2. The bottom line is that if someone is preaching a gospel made up by man vs. the one gospel (one faith in Eph 4), then they will be under a curse. I would somehow expound on the word 'gospel' like you did - it is 'the' point of this letter. I believe the Mormon 'gospel' is made up from man, as well as others. Reply to this

Paul begins by setting forth his credentials as an apostle with a message from God: blessing comes from God on the basis of faith, not law. The law declares men guilty and imprisons them; Faith sets men free to enjoy liberty in Christ. But liberty is not license. Freedom in Christ means freedom to produce the fruits of righteousness through a spirit-led lifestyle.
The book is called Pros Galatas,"To The Galatians," and it is the only letter of paul that is specifically addressed to a number of churches (to the church of Galatia," 1:2). The name Galatians was given to this celtic people because they originally lived in Gaul before thier migration to Asia Minor.
The Pauline authorship and the unity of this epistle are virtually unchallenged. The first verse clearly identifies the author as "Paul, an apostle." Also in 5:2 we read, "Indeed I, Paul say to you." In fact, paul actually wrote Galatians (6:11) instead of dictating it to a secretary, as was his usual practice.
Christ has freed the believer from bondage of the law (legalism) and to sin (license) and has placed him in a position of liberty. The transforming cross provides for the believer's deliverance from the curse of sin, law, and self (1:4, 2:20, 3:13, 4:5, 5:24, 6:14)
Now that you all probable think that im a smart man, i really am having a tough time with this book. All the information above was copied from my NKJV. Sam if you want the rest i can fax it to you. There is a lot more information. Let me know. Reply to this
