We (mankind) tend to be like those we surround our selves with. As the writer knows that all the folks reading it in his time were less than perfect, he suredly knew that if anyone read it 3000 years in the future would still be less than perfect. As a matter of a fact, he missed seeing the only perfect 'human' and probably didn't know if one would ever exist. He knew that all mankind would remain imperfect, hence he wrote all his teachings to folks who might not fully understand, yet he repeated many of the important ones (like humbleness) many times in his book of Proverbs. Bobby Bare sang a song, in which he said "It's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way." I am sure it would be, but we are NOT perfect, hence we NEED to get humble and digest all that the writer of Proverbs is trying to teach us, yes, even us.

Ironically this verse also impacted me. Anger, bitterness and regret was my middle name about 12 years ago. I begged Father for understanding then. I needed to understand why He gave me an earthly father who...(fill in the blank)
Our Heavenly Father's response: I was allowed to go through experiences to understand that I shouldn't be so quick to judge someones life and motives. I don't know their strengths, weaknesses, parameters, the demons controlling them, etc.
Though, I could judge them according to "my" standards if I wanted to continue to crash and burn - taking my family with me. We all, at one time or another, get angry at those closest to us because we feel we would do better then them in "their" skin.
Proverbs 22:24 along with Proverbs 27:4 Wrath is cruel, anger is overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy? - These gave me understanding of how to combat the rage, jealousy, and bitterness in my and my relatives lives. The "truth" is changing my heart and guiding me to love my family and relatives in a way pleasing to Him - Glory to Him for His mercy.
I received a warning today during my quiet time. Many of us can fall victim to a dangerous belief system that our relationship with Christ (and no one else) is all that we need to be successful in our daily walk with Him.
I am doing my best to establish life long relationships for the sake of my family. There is one thing I have come to know for certain: Without accountability, the voice of God can sound a lot like my own.

It is great to see all of the comments and the activity in the blog for the last several days/weeks. This is the most active I have seen the blog since I joined. Thanks for the wisdom, honesty and sharing. I learn much from what is shared here.
I have had a tough couple of days. I missed my morning time the last 2 days. I am sorry to you and to God. I am frustrated with myself because when I have needed God the most, I have busied myself up too much to pray, study and blog. Wrong way to go. I have done this too many times in the past to no good. I finally just forced myself to read the blog tonight and after reading a little I felt motivated to read Prov 22 and now to blog some. I already feel weight coming off my shoulders. The blog and all of the sharing (even the silliness) is good so the soul, especially when times of refreshing are needed.
One verse that particularly hit me tonight was verse 4: "Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life." I think wealth can be defined in many ways - one way is just contentment of the heart. I think because I decided to get humble tonight before God (tell him I needed him and then follow through with this) and because I fear (which I think actually means 'love' in the OT) God, I believe he has calmed my heart. I feel totally different right now than I have felt for the past couple of days. God is truly awesome and his word is true. Reply to this
