BLUF How many of you know that a BLUF is? No, this is not a mispelling (which is misspelled, BTW), but is actually an acronym (as is BTW--By The Way) use frequently in the military. In the military, an application created by Bill Gates' empire, known as Microsoft POWERPOINT, isused extensively to present what are known as 'briefings'. Now, after haven been with the Army for 36 years, 21 on Active Duty and 15 as a contractor supporting the military, I have sat through hundreds, if not thousands, of the POWERPOINT briefings. And let me say right here, however, that these briefings were seldomly brief. Many would last over an hour, and might includes tens of slides (pages). Because the persons presenting these briefings usually understand that a normal person's attention span is about 20 minutes, which their 'briefing' would long outlast, it became a standard habit to give a quick summary of the entire presentation on the first slide following an introductory one. On that slide, the first 'bullet' (shortened sentence) would usually be the BLUF, or..."Bottom Line Up Front". So with that in mind, after reading many great words of wisdom this morning in this 'not too brief' of a chapter, I think the bottomline is this: "whoever listens to God will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm." The proverbs in the chapter encourage us to listen and learn from others. They warn about several sins (sins from which the 'cage' of Jesus protects us (see Tony's comments last night)), and about rejecting wisdom. Was glad to see all had something to say about the prophetic book of Joel the last three days. I believe it is important to get wisdom, not only from the book of Proverbs, but from ALL of the books included in God's Word. After all, we should be, at this point in our spiritual lives, leaving the milky basics of knowledge and moving on to solid food wisdom. BLUF? Dig as deep as you can so you can learn as much as you can. Reply to this
