Verses 6 and 7 would probably not be referrenced very often in today's churches. When some churches have plenty of 'free will offerings', with millions of dollars 'left over' from any stated missionary works, where does it go? Well, just look around at some of these mega churches in Atlanta and you will see that it doesn't get spread among the poor, or even among the parishiners who gave these good will offerings 'from their heart'---it went/goes to the preacher and staff so all can enjoy 'the good life' of Mercedes and Rolls and clothes that don't come from WalMart.
After watching the Opening, and then Closing Ceremonies at the Bejing 2008 Olympics, it is plain to understand about skilled craftsman. The Chinese government did an excellent job of finding the most talented performers and teachers to put on superb displays of talent. They spent over 2 Billion dollars on these games....can you imagine? I guess their coffers were overflowing from the free will offerings of the taxpaying people. I am sure the Tabernacle, once completed, was much more awesome than the two night events preceeding and closing the 2008 Olympics, as they also had abundance of money and talent, but their purpose was to honor God directly. And that is how our service (and dollars) can be used to honor God through our churches today. How's your church doing on the managing of funds from the tithes and free/good will offerings? Are they building a building, or giving to the poor and evangelizing? Unfortunately, as you look around, most churches seem to favor (and talk more about) their glorious PLACE of worship, rather than their worship through service. Too bad.

Interesting that this is about money and the tabernacle as I was up late last night and this morning reading "The Letter" that brought down the ICOC. Everybody wants a building, why? I never did understand that, and with so many empty buildings why not just fill a need and rent that building from the owner that is probably struggling like the rest of us. Sam you are a gifted man of insight, as the scriptures said yesterday, God has given you a talent. I am so very grateful that you are continuous on the blog even thought the rest of us put our trust and fear in the world. What would happen if we just relied on God and did not worry? Look at all that God has done and yet we do not listen! If He does this when we don't listen what will He do if we do listen?

I confess that I did not read all the lavish details of the temple. In the first scriptures we are told they have more than enough materials and the people have been told to quit giving. That is definely not todays society. If you (we) have enough and someone wants to give us more of a good thing what do we do? If we have enough and we see a sale what do we do? Many of us have rooms filled with stuff, maybe we should say enough for our temples and look towards the orphans and widows. I know we all have that thought, but who has ever acted on it? If we were to look at all the stuff we buy and don't need , how much could we afford to help a needy family. Jet skies, boats, motorcycle, rv's we live in excess! We cry broke but we are rich. We tithe when we can but we are so wast full.God keeps giving to OUR temple, when will we cry enough? Just a thought.

    heb 1

3The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

the sons powerful word, what is written in red in most bibles. these are the Words I should place on my heart and meditate and memorize. the old testament historically educational, the letters written to the churches and brothers in the first century, helpful in complete understanding, but it is the WORDS of JESUS I should put the heaviest effort to permanently etch onto my mental fabric.
