--with bells on your feet-- I have heard this expression many times, but 1- do not know what it means, nor 2, where it came from. I see here in this chapter that Aaron had to have bells on his robe, otherwise he would die entering or leaving the Holy Place. Was it a signal to God that it was he who was entering/leaving? Wouldn't God know anyway??????? And, Aaron had to wear this robe with bells when 'ministering'. I am not sure what he meant by ministering, whether it was proclaiming God in an assembly, or doing his acts of worship for God (as described throughout this book as his duties). I guess having bells on, people, like GOd, would know he was around and that he was 'in costume', that is, dressed for acts of God. OUR bells do not have to be physical ones which we wear going to church, 'ministering' to others, or just being ourselves and a 'light' for others around us. Our bells are made up of our actions---those which are plainly 'heard' by those around us. This includes our kids, our spouses, our other relatives, our friends, our co-workers and people we meet during any given day. We should 'sound' like a Christian, yet most of us fail to do so. A good challenge from Mike yesterday...he was talking about putting bells on and being heard by the lost souls around us. Watch how you act this week when you are with others....purposely imagine that you have bells on and you want them to ring for Jesus....what would you do? Good challenge, Mike. I'm in.

I like the bell analogy. The more I thought about being the light for others it really made me start thinking, why stop at the people that are close to us or in are social circle. What about people we come across everyday like the cashier at the gas station where we fill up.The waiter at our favorate restaruant, the guy at the golf course that puts our clubs on the cart, people in traffic,[i know for some that is a hard one] let them in,pay the toll for the person behind you, ect. My point is that everybody matters to GOD. It is an open invatation to everyone.Even the atheist, muslum, the drug dealers even the Catholics-just kidding about the Catholics.
