I encourage all of you to watch this youtube video. My 17 year old son showed it to me. He also sent it out to all of his friends. Just click and watch (it lasts about 5 1/2 minutes).
Leave it to you to know the "true" story behind the story. Thanks for setting me straight. I thought the YouTube story sounded a little fishy, but the message is still very powerful (true story or not). This is particularly true of the last several slides where the YouTube creator talks about how many emails/jokes/etc get passed on and on without thought but how mention of God is so easily stifled. Even though the story is not true, put a twist to it and put yourself in a foreign country. Terrorist or rebels ask you the same question only the wrong answer gets you killed. What do you do? Somewhere in the bible it says, to paraphrase, if you deny me I (God) do not know you. So what would be worse, to die in this world and go to heaven because you did not deny God, or to continue to live wondering if God will know you? I know some people will say God knows your heart and you did what was best at the time, but if we truly believe in God then their would be no fear of death, or the threat of death. Just a thought. We worry about failure. We worry about hurting others. We worry about everything. Worry is a thin line between caution and fear. What are you worried about right now? Don't let this thin sin get in your way. Sure, be concerned, act prudently, but don't worry...we all know what God says about worrying about tomorrow. Put these worries in the form of concerns to God in prayer. Don't let them separate you from being 'most holy'! Reply to this

Once again, I am amazed at the detail in this list. Is it possible that Moses just made all this up? Did Moses really directly speak to God? It is pretty hard to believe - a man sitting with God and talking to God face to face.
Maybe he was just dreaming. He went to the top of the mountain alone, the air is thin up there. And what about the smoke that is always discussed when Moses goes to the mountaintop. Was this "self" made smoke? Maybe the burning bush was really a burning weed and maybe Moses burned weed more than once. Did Moses really see and talk with God?
I do not see Moses as the type of person who could even possibly make all this up. Think about all that we have been reading that God gave to Moses. Commandments to please God. Rules and regulations on how to set up a nation and to live as a community. Very specific details on construction. All of this is so diverse that I do not think one person could have done it by himself. No disrespect to Moses, but this is the same guy who tells God that he was afraid to speak on his own!
In fact, this list and all else that we have been reading confirms (at least to me) that this is really all from God. Our God is an involved, active, loving God who cares about all needs of his people. He is also not ambivalent. He lets us know EXACTLY what he wants us to do. Yet he gives us free will to choose to obey or not. And because he knows we will not (and cannot) obey perfectly, he gives us Jesus so that the final judgement is based on our hearts as opposed to on our actions.

Moses did what was asked of him by God and threw his obedience, even though he did not want to, God blessed him. God took Moses weakness, public speaking, and made him confront it. You say God lets us know EXACTLY what He wants us to do but I would disagree. God lets us know through His word how we are to act, love your neighbor as yourself, love the Lord God with all your heart, but do you know ANYONE that does that? I would think not. We all love God, we all believe in God, we all have faith, some greater than others, but NONE of us are doing what the bible commands to the fullest extent. We are selfish people absorbed in our own problems and remembering God when things are down. When was the last time anyone just thanked God for life? As bad as this week started out I didn't curse God but at the same time I did not thank Him for the trying times. God is real, He is in charge, but if He is telling us EXACTLY what He wants us to do, I'm not hearing any of it. Reply to this

First appeared in 1996. Has changed in wording over the years, and may or may not have been REALLY true...but the original COULD have been. Check this out for more info on this 12 year old story: http://www.snopes.com/religion/chalk.asp
