From yesterday's assignment....."Ah, it must be alright to not tell the WHOLE truth." I had forgotten that Sarah was indeed Abraham's sister (fathered by the same man). But, in order to save his own skin, Abraham failed to mention the all-important fact that his 'sister' was also his WIFE!!! This is a poor example for children. White lies and incomplete truths really are not right. Sure, we all do it on occasion; usually for prideful reasons, and sometimes to not hurt others, but telling these "half-truths" is still sinful. Encourage your children to refrain from this practice...make sure they understand just because Abraham got away with it, they won't. Reply to this

Family quarrels....Sarah and Hagar. An old country song (sorry, Rick) from the Oak Ridge Boys, goes like this: Trying to love two women is like a ball and chain. Trying to love two women is like a ball and chain. Sometimes the pleasure ain't worth the strain. It's a long old grind, and it tires your mind.
Trying to hold two women is tearing me apart. Trying to hold two women is tearing me apart. One's got my money, the other's got my heart. It's a long old grind, and it tires your mind.
When you try to please two women, you can't please yourself. When you try to please two women, you can't please yourself. At best it's only half good; a man can't stock two shelves. It's a long old grind, and it tires your mind.
I imagine Abraham regretted many times, having listened to Sarah when she told him to have a kid by her Egyptian maid.
This serves as a good example why cheating should NOT be on the hearts and minds of husbands....'it can only lead to pain'.
It still amazes me sometimes the stories we read in the Bible.....wars, in-breeding, murder, etc, and yet those who commit these 'sins' are also sometimes 'men of God'! Guess that goes to show what Jesus says, "No one is good except the Father." BUT, we should all strive toward that goodness, and avoid these (and the rest of the)sins at all costs. Reply to this
