Undealt with sin did here what it always does, rears its ugly head. Sin will be exposed weather you confront it or it confronts you. I also notice here that his sons-in-laws thought he was joking. why would they think that? was Lot a prankster or someone that one would not take seriously? This was a serious situation, and he was speaking about what the Lord was going to do. I think about what my children will believe when they read the scriptures for there own conversion, on what the Lord will do in there lives. They will naturally compare it with what and how I have been doing/living. If I have a sin that they can see in my character that I choose to avoid working on or dealing with, will this cause them to laugh and not take seriously what the Lord will do in there lives? I believe a lot of Lots character can be seen right here. His tolerance of sin, his comfort with it, his desire to be near worldly comforts, I think sin was no longer repulsive to him. He offered his daughters as sacrifices! Have we become numb to the sin that surrounds us? Do we offer up our children to the evils in our life? Have we lost that burning desire to fight against our fleshly desires? As "mature" Christians we must be very careful not to be come like the pharisees and sadducees we read about in the gospels. We must remember that youthful Zeal to resist sin and fight for what is right. Reply to this

Sodom & Gomorrah, Atlanta & San Fransisco, not much of a difference. I hope God does not reign down sulfur on us anytime soon! How did Lot know that these men were from God? Did they look holy or was it just because they were strangers? Lot does bow down and call them lords. He must have known they were from God as he was willing to sacrifice his daughters to the men verses letting the lords go out. What a sick city! Lot goes out to the mountains and next thing you know, 9 months later he has sons. He had to have know how they came about, I guess that was ok back in the day but why put it there for future generations to read? Today it is criminal. Good comments Rick. What sins are we doing that we just don't think about as sins and our children and friends see us doing them daily? I will have to think about that throughout the day. Reply to this
