Gen 1. From a let's-look-at-this-logically-as-we-understand-logic-and-science aspect. In the beginning (verse 1), God created the heavens and earth (not HEAVEN and earth, but heavens, and earth--referring to the celestial bodies). During that first 'day' of creation, the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. What waters?--the water wasn't separated yet from the 'expanse'???. On day 2, God made light...I am assuming by light, it refers to light provided by fire which He must have created on day 2 by making some of the celestial bodies burn ferocioulsy....like our sun. Anyway, what I am getting at, as we look at this chapter with our 'logic', isn't this a bit weird? And isn't it a lot as if Moses (or whoever penned this) made it up based upon his own understanding of things? For example...a 'day'. It is easy for scientists today to logically determine that some celestial bodies were created from others (that is, they exploded and new ones were formed), and that light is simply the 'thing' created by God when fire (what IS fire anyway?) consumes something tangible. And the concept that 'man' was created in the fashion as described in chapter 2 is VERY weird (a rib was removed from Adam??). Anyway, a great theory of how things came about are written here, and more than likely is pretty close to truth, but also might just be one man's concept as he understood God trying to tell him how it all began. This chapter alone makes it very difficult for lots of people to have enough faith that EVERYTHING written in the Bible is God's actual Words. Yes, this takes a WHOLE LOT OF FAITH to believe this, especially when a 'day' is described here. For example, on day 1 (verse 3), there was evening and there was morning. Many will say that "a day is like a thousand years" as an argument to the time frame in which GOd did all He did in this chapter. BUt that's a weak argument as Moses didn't say "there were 1000 evenings and 1000 mornings'; NO, he said, evening and morning, indicating one of each. Science as really proven that this account of creation of 'the heavens', earth, water, plants, animals and 'man' took over 6 days.
There, my thoughts on a new beginning for our daily discussions.

It is interesting that we try to base everything on time as WE understand it. We say there was evening and morning o therefore it was a day. How long was a day? God did not make the sun and the moon untill the 4th day to govern the day and the night. Lets look at Alaska, 6 months of sun and 6 months of almost all dark, how long is a day in the summer time? I never noticed that God had created multiple Heavens and only singular earth before which would back up the futere text of the seventh Heavens. Faith as defined by wikapedia is:Faith is a belief in the trustworthiness of an idea that one has not proven formally or cannot prove formally, sounds like God to me. We cannot prove that God did all that is written, but what proof is there that He did not? We either believe or we don't I choose to believe or why else would we continue to try and be like Jesus. Things in the Bible are hard to believe, like God always has been and always will be. Always will be I can see, as far as I am concerned, but always has been? God had to come about some time, even if it was poof here I am, that is a beggining. I think we need to understand that we do NOT understand time and that is why we must have faith that it is as it is written. Have a great day.

Interesting "Mr anonymous", you end your blog right where I was planning on beginning mine. One day, an evening and a morning. In our scientific world in which we live we account for our days with the sun and moon; (day and night) calender days. we see by what is written about day four, the sun and moon were made on this day so it is fair to deduce Gods days are not governed by these lights in fact it tells us what God uses-evening and morning- or a start to the day and an end to the day.

As a military person I can understand this form of daily accountability. If I were to stay awake for several calender days to complete a mission that must be done it would feel as if i accomplished the task in one day, the day that had an end and a beginning. God began each day with a set purpose or goal and did not finish his day until his goals were reached. that is one day to God.

If one tries to figure out the Word of GOD (not the word of Moses or whoever) with mans logic he or she may not see what God want them to see. We should be looking at Gods Word with Holy Spirit Logic which may have no worldly logic at all, but it will have deep, unmistakable understanding and purpose.

I opened the bible as I often do after prayer to see what God wants to say to me and it was...

My hats off to you Socorro. If any of you missed what she said this was a couple of days ago. She is reading the Word with her Spiritual Logic. You go girl! We could all learn from her example.

Thank you Mac for bringing the blog back. I think we all will be more appreciative of it after not having it for a couple of months.
