Be forewarned......I used to do a lot of teaching in weekly Bible Studies. I enjoyed it for several reasons. I learned on my own in preparation for the lesson (and Knowledge is good -- ); I was a teacher of what I learned, to others; I enjoy being the center of attention. Okay...see the problem(s) there? Obviously, the last one is is pretty bad. I have learned, hosever, over the years, that what I was doing was helping God, even though I was prideful in doing so. I still like to 'be in charge', but that is my military upbringing. But, let's put aside that sin for a moment, and talk about the second thing: I was a teacher. After reading the lesson in the NIV today, I said,'What?, there is only one teacher? Christ'? Then I remembered 1 Cor 12:28 which says, to the effect, 'God has appointed some to be teachers.' Contradiction with Matthew 23, verse 9? NO. I went to the King James Version, which is a more direct word-for-word translation, and instead of 'teacher', Matthew used 'master'. THAT makes sense. (Paul did use 'teachers' in the KJV in 1st Cor.) We are NOT masters, as there IS only one of those. We are servants to this Master. And in being a servant, we can be teachers (see 1 Cor again). I miss the small group sessions we used to have with Rick and Kathy, Scott and Star, Toji and Denise, Maurice Grier and you guys. The new connection group is okay, there are some knowledgeable people in it, especially Mark (who is blind and reads FAST out of his Braille Bible). But there is just something missing. I think it is the comradery I miss a lot. Oh well, guess we must move on. We should all have a little bit of 'teacher' in us; I guess that is why I have resorted to this forum to do MY teaching. Love listening to lessons from you guys as well. To Tony from yesterday. Remember, the 'bad' were called by Jesus---that was His mission. The one who failed to clothe himself properly (good OR bad) is the one He barred from Heaven. 'Bad' people can change, but it seems there are some people, not matter how 'good' they are, can't quite get it right and wear the right clothes. See you guys tonight between 5 and 6. Reply to this

Teachers, masters , vipers, hypocrites, snakes, I think all the bases are covered. It is amazing that people who claim to be righteous are really lost. They get tied up in their righteousness and forget their mission. They think they are better than most people. Talk about forgetting what is more important, the gold or the temple, the sacrifice or the alter. What do you think it would be today, the people or the building? We are such a prideful race that we don't want anyone to see our imperfections. So we become hypocrites in some of the things we do,whether they are seen or not seen. I need to look at myself when I am not with the brothers and make sure that I am not being a hypocrite. Reply to this
