If you have never really read, I mean, REALLY read, Psalm 22, I would recommend you doing so.....This thing was written centuries before Christ was born, yet David had the foreknowledge as given to him by God, to describe Jesus on the Cross. Eloi Sabactami (or something like that) was spoken by Jesus just before his death. It is translated into the same words David used at the beginning of this Psalm. This Psalm describes Jesus' descent into hell, and how people "gloated" over Him as He was dying. Read this Psalm with this in mind, and you just might see the anguish Jesus was in, many centuries afterward. "All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord..." v27 Reply to this

Eph 3:12 - In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. This is an awesome thought. We can approach the throne of God with freedom and confidence. Approaching a king's throne was a serious thing at that time. If you were not invited, you would be killed. I remember how fearful Ester was to approach the throne of the king - and she was his wife! To think that we have been given the freedom to approach the MOST HIGH king anytime we want and not only approach but come with confidence is truly amazing. Through our faith in Jesus we have full and complete access to God. How can we ever be afraid or ever lack hope? If I really lived like I believed this verse I would see everything that happens (whether 'good' or 'bad') as merely an opportunity to sit and talk with God (at His throne).
I also wonder how or if I really understand verse 20. "... immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine...." God is able to do more that I can ever possibly imagine. Even though I can try to know God, I cannot ever understand him. He is so awesome, it is beyond my ability to comprehend. Like what you guys noted in Psalm 22 and then Isaiah 1 and then Jesus on the cross. These events were separated by thousands of years. Yet it is unbelievable how the first two so accurately describe what happened to Jesus on the cross. This is great evidence of the power of God. Perhaps even immeasurably more proof than I can ask for or imagine! Reply to this

I just read Psalm 22. I knew some of this but I have truly never seen this psalm so clearly before. I completely agree with you guys. This is amazing! How did David actually write this unless he was being led by God. What would have prompted him to say these things. I cannot imagine anyone who knows of Jesus dying on the cross, if they heard this read, would think of this being said by anyone but Jesus. This psalm increases my faith in the bible. It makes the passage: "Faith comes from hearing the message and the message is heard in the words of Christ" mean much more. Here are the words of Christ written some 2000+ years before Christ!
I want to share something with you guys that I have been doing with my kids. A few weeks (?) ago we read in Philipians that we are not to be anxious about anything but in prayer and petition we are to present our requests to God and the "God of peace that transcends understanding" will ...." I have been trying to tell God everyday everything that I am anxious about. A few days ago my daughter was all upset and I asked her to do the same. I read the scripture with her and got her to picture something really, really peaceful. Then she told me all that she was anxious about. That was interesting in and of itself. She had a lot bottled up inside. I told her that by telling God all that she was anxious about, she was presenting her requests to God in prayer and petition. And that God would give her peace. Today, I did the same with my son. My goal is to get my kids to learn how to do this everyday - sometimes with me and sometimes just them with God alone. I know that as I have been doing this, I have felt much more peaceful and I am seeing the power of God more clearly in my life. This also relates to scripture today in Ephesians that God will do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. I think God is just waiting to bless us if we will only talk to him, spend time with him, give him our heart and truly believe in him. I am excited to see what is happening so far. I know that if my children, my wife and I continue to do this, God will in fact give us "peace that transcends understanding." Reply to this
