"...the eyes of your heart.." verse 18 in Ephesians, Chapter 1. Never noticed (or if I did, I forgot) this before. So let's talk about it....and I quote: “And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” From a book called "The Little Prince." It is amazing what you can find in books. Even books other than the Bible. Bottom line: Your heart SEES. It sees things your eyes cannot. Can you SEE your love for your family? Can you SEE your feelings toward sin? Can you SEE sadness, happiness, sorrow, patience and the myriad of other emotions you and I FEEL each day? Nope! But your heart does. The word 'see', as a verb, is defined as visual perception. Your eyes can be fooled into 'seeing' something which isn't true (when I see you, I want to show you the most unbelievable optical illusion you have ever seen....guaranteed!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Our hearts can also be illusioned into 'seeing' something which is not true. Satan tempts us initially with our eyes...at things we see or imagine. Then he goes for the heart...enticing it to 'see' (for you) the benefit in getting or doing the things your eyes saw. Yes, the heart can see very well. But, it also can be fooled. What is Satan now tempting your heart with? Is it laziness? Is it pride? Is it greed or envy? Of course not.....he is tempting you with things that LEAD to those sins. Sin itself is not tempting....it's the accompanying 'joy' that accompanies that sin that is being used by Satan to blind your hearts of reality. Don't be illusioned by what you see with your eyes, and as well, don't be fooled by what Satan causes you to see with your heart. Examine your heart all the time. This means to 'see' the end results of any temptation your heart is getting. 20-20 hindsight is sometimes way too late....don't let your heart get blinded by the moment, but have it focus on the future at all times--and that future is your salvation and those of your loved ones, including your family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. As The Little Prince said...what is essential (that is, salvation) is invisible to the eye, but can be seen correctly with your heart if you try hard enough. Reply to this
New Life Church Service today is 10:30, not 10:00...probably because of the weather.
