Prove 24, verse 10: "If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength." A poem by Nan Forehand goes like this, 'Call on the Lord when times are good. Talk to Him like you know you should. Call on the Lord when times are bad. He'll lift you up and make you glad.' It is easy, when things are easy. It is hard, when things are hard. But that is why God is given us strength. Bench pressing 250 pounds is okay, but lifting a person from the depths of sin is better. What did Paul say? That physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things. Anyone can shine when their lives are going well. It is the strong man who can shine when they are not. Do you exhude confidence and faith in God when your marital problems surface, or do you get depressed and weak? This verse tells us that if we stumble when the going gets rough, we are weak in our faith, and have no strength. Trust in the Lord always. Besides, I can do everything through him who gives me strength. (Phil 4:13).
Acts 24. "I'm Felix the cat. The wonderful, wonderful cat. Id diddly a dibbly boom. I'm Felix, the wonderful cat." I'm sorry. But everytime I read the name Felix, this old diddy, the theme song to the cartoon of Felix the Cat, runs through my mind. But I definitely digressed (or is that regressed) this morning. This 'trial' before the Governor, obviously Roman, Felix, was doomed to failure in the first place. Felix was dishonest as well as wimpish in his duties. He preferred bribes in lieu of do the right thing and making a decision. He even left office before he decided how to handle Paul's case. Felix reminds me of several politicians (in general, not specific ones) who are afraid to make the right choices for the people because of lobbyists with pockets full of money. I dare say, and not to do politics on this blog, that most politicians look out for their jobs more than they do their people. How about you? Do you look out more for your family and friends than you do for yourself? Are you selfish like Felix, or generous like Jesus? Are you afraid to make decisions in your life concerning your children's future? That is, do you have daily, sit down, let's discuss, type of discussions about the Bible? Do you teach them on a regular basis about people like Felix and what NOT to do, as well as about Jesus and what TO do? Felix was a wimp in his job. We need not be in ours for Christ.
Missed everyone this whole weekend. There was a LOT in chapters 22 and 23 of Proverbs and Acts. Reply to this

I am so guilty of this passage, I have let all of life troubles get me down. I think we still have to be humble and talk about our problems. When do you rely on God? How do you know it is or is not God. I look at it this way; God gave us a brain and wisdom. We use our brain to acknowledge the problems and our wisdom to figure out the best way to eliminate the problem. Whether it be by praying to change the way we react or our behavior. Or by enlisting the help of a righteous brother to help us through. I think either way we first have to pray and let God put on our hearts the correct way to go. It's like the old joke about the guy drowning and relying on God to save him. God sends 3 or 4 different ways to be saved and he is waiting for God Himself. God sends us all kinds of ways out, we just have to recognize them. We need to be strong in our times of trouble! I have recently been thinking allot about Job, I do not want God to let satan push me that far, I am not Job. I would like to think that I would NEVER renounce God, but look at Peter when the rooster crowed Acts 24 Wow! Two years in prison because Felix was hopping for a bribe. Then he leaves him there as a favor to the jews when he leaves office. Felix is like the politicians of today. Not for the people but himself. I would not have gotten anything out of this except my first two lines if not for Mac's comment. No Mac, I don't do any of the things you suggest. It is time to start. Reply to this
