Prov 20. Verse 24. RIGHT!!! "A man's steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand his own way?" I wish the author of this proverb had explained THIS one a little better. This smacks of predestinationalism, that is, each one of us has been predestined to whatever future the Lord chose for us long, long ago. I don't adhere to that philosophy though. I believe that He gave us will, to make choices of right or wrong, and because of those choices, we determine our own destination. Why else would He have created us? For some unknown reason, He let sin come into the lives of man. It was at that junction that choice became ours. I believe we all have/had a choice to seek and find God. A choice to get baptized. A choice to select our own destination: Heaven or Hell. I am perplexed about the several Scriptures in the Bible that, however, tend to support the theory of predestination...this one (verse 24) among them. I guess that is why we continue to seek out the truth.
Acts 20. Paul. What a guy! Raising people from the dead. Walking from city to city instead of riding like his companions did on occasion. Working with his hands to make his own living instead of taking offerings from the church. Knowing he had to suffer in jail and hardships, he continued on to his destinations. This man is someone we should all strive to emulate. He was not swayed by dangers or by falsehoods told about him. Instead, he continued to preach the Word of God in the face of all adversity. Can we say that? Reply to this

Predestination? I think we all have our lives plotted out, otherwise the scripture's would be false. Does it not say that God knew us before we were in the womb and that he knows the very number of hairs on our head and the days of our lives? I think God has a destination planned for all of us and that is to be with Him in heaven. We on the other hand, unfortunately have free will and we choose other paths. God is always trying to get us back to Him, to what was predestine, but the choice is ours. We can look at it in a worldly way. You know their is a speed trap up the road, you, A: do the speed limit and have no problems or, B: put the peddle to the metal and get whats coming. We all know heaven in up the road, the choice we make is ours, the choice God made is for us to be their we are just taking the long hard road. Reply to this

Verse 16 I don't understand:Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does it for a wayward woman. What is the difference? We all know what a stranger is. A wayward women is one who has turned away from what is right and proper. Why take the garment of one who puts up security, yet hold the other for a pledge? Anyone? Acts 20 Paul was an amazing person's Wouldn't you be if God himself had stopped you on your way to jailing His people, blinded you, had a conversation with you, sent you on your way, then gives you your sight back? I would like to think that I would be as outspoken for God as Paul is. I know, I know, we have all the modern miracles of today but it is not the same. What is interesting to me in this chapter is the young man falls and dies. Paul throws his body on him, says not to worry because he is alive, then goes back to preaching till daybreak. Like that was no big deal!! He totally gave God all the glory and did not even think about it, wow! Reply to this
