Verse 22 in Proverbs 19 says: What a man desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar. The last half of this saying is NOT what Corporate America seems to be all about. Lie your way to the top because everyone else is doing it. Why would people purposely jeopardize their salvation for wealth? Oops, dumb question. A lot of people believe once saved always saved. And a whole lot of people think that just because you lead a good life, you are saved....a lie here and there won't matter because God loves them. I really feel sorry for people like that...even in my pre-Christ days, I knew lying was wrong and never did that for gain of wealth (at least as far as I can remember). Lying comes from satan...don't!!!

Acts 19. Okay....this is one of those Scriptures which has me wondering all about this baptism thing, and how we receive the Holy Spirit today. I know, I know...we are TAUGHT that without Apostles around today that the laying on of hands is not done--it was only THEIR power. Yet, here, we see baptism to be like a cleansing of the mind--that is, a symbol of repentence--John's baptism. How does one get baptized into the name of Jesus? How does one get the Holy Spirit. I know our teachings, but they somehow seem to lack the history of proof. The HS came to a bunch in FIRE in Acts 2. Here it came by the laying on of hands....where is it that it says it comes SPECIFICALLY by baptism? Acts 2:38? Not sure. Anywhere else? HELP!

doesn't Paul call this an elementary teaching? why is it then that we keep going back to it? it says they were baptized before the holy spirit came on them.
      Acts 8:14-16
it appears it is possible you may not get the holy spirit right after baptism it may take a while or prayer to receive the "gift"
      acts 10: 43
receiving forgiveness through the name of Jesus.
thought- the holy trinity is God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit
what if there is three needs for salvation also - forgiveness through His name, baptism and the Holy Spirit. the order that you get them in may not be as important as just making sure we have them. kinda like the fire triangle without all three elements you can not make fire.

Through out the bible people recieved the Holy Spirit in different ways.In the first part of ch. 19 Paul came across some disciples and asked if they had recieved the Holy Spririt when they beleived. They had not yet heard of the death and reserection of Jesus.Only what John was preaching about repentance.I believe today you recieve the Holy Spirit when you accept in your heart that Jesus is your Lord and savior.

    Proverbs 19
Nothing really jumps out to me this morning, it all seems common sense. Verse 8 ,"The one who acquires good sense loves himself; one who safeguards understanding finds success". It seems to me a person of good sense and understanding is hard to find. We all think we have good sense, and for the most part I think we do. With good sense and understanding we should all be fine. How understanding are we to our wives and children? Are we to tired and impatient by the end of the day to be understanding? I know I am allot, all we can do is recognize our shortcomings and pray for help with them.
    Acts 19
How great would it be for an evil spirit to say, Verse 15 " Jesus I know and Paul I recognize, but who are you?" Paul was such a man after Gods heart that he could lay hands on people and they would be filled with the Holy Spirit, healed of sickness or have a demon cast out! Wouldn't it be great to be the "Paul" that is recognized and not the "who are you?" As Mac preaches daily, we need to be in Gods word. I am so grateful that God has put Mac in all of our lives!! He is the one constant that I feel we can all depend on to keep us focused. I hope everyone is having a great day!

Prov:19 This chapter reminded me about pro sports. You see these guys on tv making millons of dollars and having their posses around them. Then you see some of these guys doing things that our far from what Jesus taught.I see kids wearing their shirts, shoes, ect, wanting to be like them.I would love to see one of these guys at a press conference start busting out some scripture and holding a bible study right there in the locker room.I had a chance to be in a study group with Bob Christian a retired NFL player. He told me a story about a game a few years ago in chicago when after the game was over he and some of the players from both teams decided to pray together on the field. It was'nt planned, just a GOD prompt. It was the first time this had happened at an NFL game.He said that he saw later the camera man panned on them to see what was going on.They soon realized what was going on and went to a comercial.A beer comercial.Which would you want your kids to see? Ultimatly it is up to us to teach our children the truth.Remember we are raising future adults. We also as adults need to listen to others with God driven wisdom.I know I need it.Whether it is this blog or listening to a sermon or someone farther along in their faith journey.Becaus GODS wisdom is power and the fear of the LORD leads to life. ACTS:19 I saw three important lessons in this chapter.First I think some may understand that when you become a Christ follower you must turn away from sin.But when we do then we must turn to Jesus and let him penetrate deep inside of our heart. We must pray, read scripture, fast, and just meditate on his word. And most important listen. How many of us when we pray just get up and go on doing whatever we were doing.I here this from my high school students all the time. They say I never here GOD or feel him when I pray.I always respond the same way.Did you stop and listen?Sorry I know I am getting off trsck, but I am just really fired up this morning.OK now the silversmiths were losing money because the truth was being preached and their love of money kept them from hearing the truth.I see it still today in thr buisiness world, people having money as their master instead of GOD.I have been out of work the past few months and I havr been on a few interviews.I am in Sales so this question always comes up.What motivates you?I know what answer there looking for is money. But I wont compromise.I've done it too many times in my life.So I always answer it the same way,my GOD and my family thats what motivates me.
